Well here we go, Game 2 for Group E, the Azzurri vs. US game will be second going off at 3pm - we'll be blogcasting during the game so stay tuned. Onto headlines for the US and Azzurri:
USA Headline:
- FIFA survey after the first round....USA is most disappointing team. Honestly I think this is a compliment, if we are that disappointing then people are noticing our potential.
- US players are saying the right things, time to walk the walk.
- US will have good support today. Kaiserslauten has the second largest US community outside the US...thanks to a military base.
- Big Bruce is putting the pressure on Keller to have a great game. Hey Bruce, Kasey is the LEAST of your worries, how about figuring out how to keep possession and score some goals!
Azzurri Headlines:
- Don't look now but Lippi is in rare company for leading the Azzurri.
- Bruce Arena finally is making some sense, read it here.
- Am confident the Z man will be on the right side of defense for Azzurri today. His thoughts, "Lippi knows what I can do. I'll play as I always have." Amen to that brother!
- Tardelli is happy with the growth of Pirlo and expects more good things out of the Maestro. Good interview with the '82 Cup winner.
- Good story breaking down the different and important roles of a midfielder. Pirlo is the example used as the Maestro. Great language, "The magisterial showing of Andrea Pirlo in the Azzurri engine room against Ghana was further enhanced by the superb opening goal that set Italy en route to victory." Not to harp, but this has always been the hole in the US skill set, we have never created a dominant central midfielder.....bummer.
