We have a Sheva sighting of dominance as the second round of group games come to a completion with Group H finishing off the day on style. Not sure if there was panic in the Ukraine camp after their loss to Spain. Really it was a toss-out game as both Euro powers only need to take care of their African subordinates - but a 4-0 whoopin hurts the ego nonetheless. With Tunisia and the Saudis seemingly happy for the ride, this Group probably had the cleanest top and bottom split of any of the 8 groupings.
Finishing up Group G, Switzerland plowed through Togo 2-0 in Dortmund. Frei got his first of the cup for the knives....
Spain played in the first bits of rain as they continue to reign over Group H. 3 goals in the second half saw them erase Tunisia's one goal lead at the break. Cesc saw his first action for the Iberians, I think he'll prove more vital to their ongoing success in the midfield than Xavi...we'll see what Aragones will do come knockout time.
In the game of the day, Ukraine crushed the hapless Saudis 4-0, my first game on Univision...oh how I love the goal calls! Sheva scored his first and Ukraine appeared to regain some of the swagger they showed in qualifying. All to play for when they meet Tunisia in the group finale.
Man of the Day: Sheva - not only scored but placed national pride restoration on his to do list...not a bad days work.
