No news yesterday - was simply basking in a great start by the boys in Blue.
Game 3 - Watched the first half of the Brazil game. Wow - what a weird mix of talent they have. Ronaldo and Adriano took a beating from the press back home in Brazil, but what forward would thrive in that negative relationship with the midfield? Kaka and 'Dinho need, make that want, the ball at their feet and make runs, only when all the tricks are out of the bag or no more space to run remains do they look to pass....what are 2 target men like Fat Ron and Adriano to do? I think they should simply start Robinho and pick only 1 forward to watch the game from the field...stay tuned. Kaka hit a cracker for the uninspired 1-0 win over Croatia. If Niko Kovac can make it back, look for Croatia to have a chance to go through with Brazil - they have a very sturdy midfield and defense that should be able to lock down both Japan and Australia. If Prso can put a couple in the ol' onion bag they should be straight...to face Italy!
Game 1 - Japan vs. Australia, had my eye on this game via gamecast. Even with the 3-1 final hard to get too excited about either of these sides. Cahil had a nice brace....but..? Japan faces Croatia next while Australia will be put to the test against the Samba boys. BTW - for those tracking Australia technically is leading Group F.
Game 2 - France took on the underrated Swiss. Our second goaless draw of the finals...ouch! The Swiss defense is better than advertised, and I have no idea how France is so empty of goal scoring ideas. Anyway - the French press was actually luke warm to Les Bleus simply securing a point. Crazy fact of the day...France has not scored in a World Cup NOT on French soil since 1986....double ouch!
