Day 9 saw more mediocrity out of the French side, not even Zizou sweating at his utmost could propel Les Bleus into more that 3rd spot in their group with a 1-1 tie with the ever feisty South Koreans. A first half classic from Henry put the Frenchmen in control, only to see their tired legs relinquish possession and control of the game in the second half. The non stop charge of the SK's proved enough as Park Ji-Sung barreled one over and through the French defense. The worst news of the match for impartial fans came late in the second half when Zizou was given a shaky yellow card, meaning he will miss the final group game and possibly end his career being subbed in the 90th minute of a tie vs. S. Korea. I don't know who is in charge of French Fairytales, but I'm pretty sure that scenario sucks....A win against the hapless, underpaid, and underwhelming Togolese would see Les Bleus through. If only for Zizou......allez les Bleus.
The Croats and the Japans played to a mildly entertaining 0-0 draw. This makes for a fun final day match-up with the Croats and Aussies...the Euros needing a win, while the Kangaroos need only a draw to play on and meet Italy (prophetically speaking).
Yesterdays 3rd game featured the Samba boys taking on the Aussies. After a spirited last 10 minutes in their opener against Japan in which they scored 3 goals, Australia looked dangerous throughout but could not beat Dida and the Brazilian defense falling 2-0. Adriano got on the board first with some help from Fat Ron, and Fred came on in the second half to bundle in a post ricochet from Robinho. Still uninspiring, but undefeated Brazil marches on.
